Care in the Wheat Ridge home

Many families start with help in the kitchen. A caregiver can cook, wash clothes, and keep the main rooms tidy. Companionship means being there during the visit, not only doing chores.

Personal care is bathing, grooming, and dressing. Getting up and getting ready can be the hard part of the morning. These tasks are sometimes called ADLs, and they are part of the same visits as help around the house.

We also help keep the home safe. A caregiver may see a cord in the hall or a chair that wobbles and will tell the family.

How care works

  1. 1. We meet with you at home.

Our care coordinator visits you and your family. We talk about your daily routine, what is hard now, and how you like things done.

  2. 2. We write your plan of care.

If you have Medicaid, your case manager decides which services you are approved for, and we follow that plan. If you pay privately or use long-term care insurance, we build the plan with you. Together with you and your family, we decide the order and the way each task is done.

  3. 3. Personal care and help at home, together.

We usually combine personal care, like bathing and dressing, with help around the house, like meals and laundry. This makes your day easier and helps you stay independent at home.

  4. 4. We train your caregiver.

Your care coordinator shows your caregiver how to follow your plan, step by step and in the right order.

  5. 5. Your plan stays the same until you want a change.

Your caregiver follows the same plan at every visit. If your needs change, just call us and we will update your plan together.
