Home Care in Aurora, CO
We match families in Aurora with caregivers who live and work nearby.
People call because a parent, a partner, or they themselves want to stay in their own house or apartment.
Aurora is in three counties
The city is in Arapahoe County, Adams County, and Douglas County. We come to homes in all three. If you are not sure which county your address is in, call and tell us the street. We will tell you if we can come.
You can reach us Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm. Call or text 720.937.1500 and you will talk with a person at AVA.
Help at home
Many families in Aurora start with help in the kitchen, like cooking meals. We can also help with light housekeeping, laundry, and companionship.
We also help keep the home safe. Caregivers watch for things like loose rugs or poor lighting and let the family know. A clear path from the bed to the bathroom is one simple example.
Personal care includes bathing, grooming, and dressing. Daily tasks such as getting up, washing, and getting dressed are sometimes called ADLs. The caregiver helps with the hard ones. The person can still do the ones they are able to do.
How care works
1. We meet with you at home.
Our care coordinator visits you and your family. We talk about your daily routine, what is hard now, and how you like things done.
2. We write your plan of care.
If you have Medicaid, your case manager decides which services you are approved for, and we follow that plan. If you pay privately or use long-term care insurance, we build the plan with you. Together with you and your family, we decide the order and the way each task is done.
3. Personal care and help at home, together.
We usually combine personal care, like bathing and dressing, with help around the house, like meals and laundry. This makes your day easier and helps you stay independent at home.
4. We train your caregiver.
Your care coordinator shows your caregiver how to follow your plan, step by step and in the right order.
5. Your plan stays the same until you want a change.
Your caregiver follows the same plan at every visit. If your needs change, just call us and we will update your plan together.
Ways to pay
Health First Colorado (Colorado Medicaid) may cover home care if you qualify. Your case manager decides which services are approved. We also work with families who pay privately or use long-term care insurance. Not sure which one is right for you? Call us, and we will walk you through your options.
A relative who cares for you may be able to get paid as your caregiver through AVA. Ask us how.
