Home Care in Denver, CO

We match families in Denver with caregivers who live and work nearby.

Denver is both a city and a county. Families call because a parent or partner wants to stay in their own home.

How care works

  1. 1. We meet with you at home.

Our care coordinator visits you and your family. We talk about your daily routine, what is hard now, and how you like things done.

  2. 2. We write your plan of care.

If you have Medicaid, your case manager decides which services you are approved for, and we follow that plan. If you pay privately or use long-term care insurance, we build the plan with you. Together with you and your family, we decide the order and the way each task is done.

  3. 3. Personal care and help at home, together.

We usually combine personal care, like bathing and dressing, with help around the house, like meals and laundry. This makes your day easier and helps you stay independent at home.

  4. 4. We train your caregiver.

Your care coordinator shows your caregiver how to follow your plan, step by step and in the right order.

  5. 5. Your plan stays the same until you want a change.

Your caregiver follows the same plan at every visit. If your needs change, just call us and we will update your plan together.

What the caregiver does

Many Denver families start with help in the kitchen, like cooking meals. We can also help with light housekeeping, laundry, and companionship.

Companionship can be a walk to the mailbox, a card game, or staying through the afternoon so the person is not alone.

We also help keep the home safe. Caregivers watch for things like a loose rug, a chair by the shower, or a phone that is hard to reach. They tell the family what they see.

Personal care includes bathing, grooming, and dressing. Other daily tasks are sometimes called ADLs. In the morning that can mean getting up, getting ready, and getting to the table. These tasks are part of the same visits as help around the house.

Ways to pay

Health First Colorado (Colorado Medicaid) may cover home care if you qualify. Your case manager decides which services are approved. We also work with families who pay privately or use long-term care insurance. Not sure which one is right for you? Call us, and we will walk you through your options.

A relative who cares for you may be able to get paid as your caregiver through AVA. Ask us how.
