The help at home

A Northglenn visit can mix a meal, laundry, light housekeeping, and time together. Some families want the same caregiver on a regular schedule.

Bathing, grooming, and dressing are personal care. Other daily tasks are sometimes called ADLs. The caregiver helps with the hard steps and leaves the rest to the person when they can do them.

Caregivers look through the home for simple risks, such as a dark bathroom or a loose rug, and they tell the family what they see.

The office in Aurora is only for administration. Care is in your home, from a caregiver who lives and works nearby.

Ways to pay

Health First Colorado (Colorado Medicaid) may cover home care if you qualify. Your case manager decides which services are approved. We also work with families who pay privately or use long-term care insurance. Not sure which one is right for you? Call us, and we will walk you through your options.

A relative who cares for you may be able to get paid as your caregiver through AVA. Ask us how.

Start with a free visit

The first meeting is a free in-home assessment. We talk about the routine and what is hard now. Call or text 720.937.1500, or email info@avahomecare.com, to set that visit.

How care works

  1. 1. We meet with you at home.

Our care coordinator visits you and your family. We talk about your daily routine, what is hard now, and how you like things done.

  2. 2. We write your plan of care.

If you have Medicaid, your case manager decides which services you are approved for, and we follow that plan. If you pay privately or use long-term care insurance, we build the plan with you. Together with you and your family, we decide the order and the way each task is done.

  3. 3. Personal care and help at home, together.

We usually combine personal care, like bathing and dressing, with help around the house, like meals and laundry. This makes your day easier and helps you stay independent at home.

  4. 4. We train your caregiver.

Your care coordinator shows your caregiver how to follow your plan, step by step and in the right order.

  5. 5. Your plan stays the same until you want a change.

Your caregiver follows the same plan at every visit. If your needs change, just call us and we will update your plan together.

Call or text us. We will help you with the next step.
